We are happy to launch a new edition of Words Beyond – Translating Borders. The contest is open to dramaturgs of all ages, residing in Italy, Austria, Croatia and Slovenia.
We have identified falls as the theme for this edition. We were inspired by the 20th century and our region, that has been an observer of many of the major events of the short century: the two World Wars, the Cold War, the Iron Curtain, migrations. From those destructions and recompositions comes our present. In a broader sense, the falls are all those moments – from the great collective history to personal stories – from which we rise again different from before. We are looking for stories that speak of these falls and that, by looking at them, attempt to overcome them.
