Illuminate International Contest for Illustrators

The cultural organization DayDreaming Project (DDP), in collaboration with Hangar Teatri, is announcing an international call for entries dedicated to professional illustrators. The selected works will be displayed in a temporary solo exhibition which will be hosted at Hangar Teatri in Trieste, for five weeks.
WHO CAN SUBMIT:
– Professional illustrators working in visual arts and/or in publishing – graphic novels, comics, children’s books, marketing illustrations or similar, based in Italy and/or abroad.
– No age limit.
There is no theme to the call.
CONTESTWINNER AND HOW TO SUBMIT:
The winner will be selected by a committee made up of members of the Organizations DayDreaming Project (DDP) and Hangar Teatri. The selection will be based on the jury’s absolute discretion. The winner will receive a prize of 500,00 €.
For the exhibition to be properly staged, you will be kindly asked to send us your works either:
– printed, to the following address DayDreaming Project – via Luigi Pecenco 4B – 34127 Trieste, within and no later than 16. February 2025,
– or via wetransfer or email to the following email address info@hangarteatri.it within and no later than 5 February 2025.
DURATION AND VENUE:
The art exhibition will be put up in the exhibition room of Hangar Teatri, renamed Sala di Pietra – The Hall of Stone, located via Pecenco n. 8, Trieste.
The exhibition will be on view from 21. February 2025 till 30. March 2025.
The exhibition will be accessible for visitors on show days (on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays) and for anyone participating in the activities offered (every week from Mondays to Thursdays).
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
To apply, it is compulsory to fill in the following form within and no later than Friday 31. January 2025 at 12 am. Make sure to fill out the form to validate your application.
WHAT WE OFFER:
– Display of your works (on paper, forex paper or any medium required by the techniques and styles applied; any decision will be taken in agreement with the author).
– Exhibition set up in agreement with the author. In accordance with the main features of the building, the author will be able to make suggestions concerning the set up.
– Vernissage, Friday 21. February 2025, at 7 pm.
– Online and Offline Advertising (on websites, on paper, in the press, in local and national art magazines) will be taken care of by DDP and Hangar Teatri.
– A two-night stay in Trieste (on the night before and after the opening).

ABOUT DAYDREAMING PROJECT
The cultural organization Daydreaming Project, founded in Trieste in 2007, has set up more than a hundred art exhibitions featuring local, national and international artists. It aims at fostering artistic and cultural activities and events, supporting new artists and collaborating with private and state cultural foundations, both on a national and international level. Since its foundation, it has been managing the exhibition hall of bar/book shop KNULP located in Trieste and over the last few years has supported the development of the exhibition room The Hall of Stone at Hangar Teatri.

Hangar Teatri, born from the renovation of a former car workshop in Trieste, is a dynamic cultural centre which hosts art events, theatre and dance shows, music concerts, workshops/masterclasses and art exhibitions. Thanks to its inclusive and varied offer, it aims at supporting the interaction between different art genres. Since 2021, it has been supported by the Italian Ministry of Culture (FUS) and by Regione FVG Friuli Venezia Giulia.
